Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1291077 Composed by Rocco Di Pietro. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. Individual part. 8 pages. Rocco Di Pietro #881769. Published by Rocco Di Pietro (A0.1291077). “Interrupted Dance” was written for the Guitarist Larry Marotta who I have worked with for many years.I felt comfortable giving Larry the difficult tasks of going back and forth between a simple childhood tunewith variations Mozart would have approved of.I contrasted that with daunting extended techniques from the old Avant -Garde.I did not want to get rid of any technique which would still be useful to me frommy old love of Modernism, but I wanted to use that as part of my current practiceof letting the past in, which has moved away from 1966.The dance was inspired by a little sculpture a friend of mine gave to me, which depicts abooby -trapped playground. It shows a little swing set surrounded by thorns anddaggers. There is a little teddy, who wants to ride the swing but never does, because he sees the bucket of blood. The little swing set is represented by the childhood tune in its various transformations. The work is simply dedicated to that friend. The work contains two endings. The guitarist traveling teddy navigates the playground in triumph in the first endingand individuates and rejects the playground in the second ending.Returning to the practice of life in maturity.RDP.

Published by GA-music (A0.1010877). Dance is a piano duet (piano four hands) characterised by a brilliant move. Harp - Digital Download SKU: A0.797282 Composed by Darhon Rees-Rohrbacher. Baroque,Folk. Score. 13 pages. Afghan Press Music for the Harp #4797285. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp (A0.797282). A delightful suite of Baroque-type dances that include Allemande in 4/4, Courante in 6/4, Sarabande in 3/4, and Gigue in 6/8. Although each piece is written in the key of F, lever and pedal changes are clearly marked and each piece has a few accidentals. Diamond shaped notes are used to indicate lever changes. Each dance possesses a charming quality and emulates its own style of the period. The suite can be played from beginning to end without interruption, that is, pedal and lever changes are indicated at the end of each dance so you are ready to start the next dance. Each dance is two pages and page turns are only required if playing the entire suite. This suite is perfect for wedding prelude and receptions, and provides elegant background music for any occasion.

Panagiotis Theodossiou #3579277. Published by Panagiotis Theodossiou (A0.886701). String Quartet in memoriam Gyorgi Ligeti (2006) The work is written in the memory of G. Ligeti. It goes from strict atonal to tonal and almost neoclassical idiom, from inner intense expression to parody and grotesque humour. Elements so characteristic in the musical language of the honored composer. The 5 parts are: 1. Introduction: Strange Visitors (Lento misterioso), 2. Scherzo I: Interrupted cha-cha : Faith's Dance (Andantino scherzando), 3.Intermezzo: Et expecto...(Larghetto semplice), 4. Scherzo II: Devil's Dance (Allegro giocoso), 5. Finale: Flames (Feroce) There is also a programmatic scenario behind the five mouvements of the work: Strange visitors appear threatening or cheating. And suddenly Faith start to dance an interrupted cha –cha. Expectation stands in the center of the work and in the soul of our hero. Devil’s dance leads to the final test. Flames. Flames of purification or flames of hell?It has been performed by the ensemble ALEA III under Theodor Antoniou at Tsai Performance Centre, Boston University in 2007. Parts of the work have been performed by Athens Bridge Quartet at Faculty Lounge, Deree College under the project Composing the String Quartet of Deree Arts Festival in 2013.Athens Bridge Quartet recorded it ion CD (MOTIVO BQ1070) among Greek Composers Works in 2017.

String Ensemble,String Quintet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.775995 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 73 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2035285. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775995). Viola Quintet (Unquiet Parables) (2009) was commissioned by the Vienna Soloists and is dedicated to Jack Melby and Jane Thompson. The work is in three movements, each sharing the same basic musical material. The starting point for the music is dissonant cadential figuration centered on Ab (taken from the voice leading of American colonial-era music). Spinning out from this idea, the material extends to incorporate a sonority formed from perfect 5ths one semitone apart. Irregular phrase lengths and cadences are used as the basis of the work’s large-scale structures. The first movement, Recitatives and Chorales, consists of free, recitative-like material for the instruments in solo. These recitatives often erupt into fast spirals. This texture is interrupted periodically by chorale-like ideas presented by the full quintet. The second movement, Serenata, is a song-like with each instrument taking the melody in turn. Some of the recitative-ideas of the first movement re-emerge, as well as a re-articulation of the cadential figuration. The third movement, Ductia, is energetic and driving. A ductia is a Medieval stamping dance resembling the estampie. The driving (yet sometimes off-kilter) character of the dance is interrupted by a recollection of the first movement’s material. The final resolution of the extended cadential figurations occurs at the end, and the work ends exuberantly with a flourish in Ab major.

Solar Visions (2004) for woodwind quintet was commissioned by and is dedicated to theArcadian Winds of Boston, Massachusetts, at the specific request of John Paul Aubrey, hornist. Hearing the Arcadian Winds perform contemporary music on numerous occasionswas an inspiration to the writing of this piece. The work is in three movements, each sharing the same basic musical material. Organ - advanced to difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6218 Composed by Jean Guillou. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Op. 20. Duration 36 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6218. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6218). This is the name given to the ancient tales and legends of Scandinavia, mostly drawn up in Iceland. The term itself is of Germanic origin, form the verb 'sagen' which means to say, to recount. The title also has to do with what is said, what is recounted, in a musical epic of today. Three of these pieces, Sagas 2, 4 and 6, have the particularity of being improvisations. In Saga 1, the instrument seems to awaken out of a dream of which the two opposing elements gradually become ordered. Pedal staccati soon take control and come to predominate as they build up while, in a spirit of contradiction, various solo steps, Cornet, Cromore, unfold their melismas. The dream then reestablishes itself, this time for good. The second Saga is a sombre, frenetic dance based on groups of five semiquaves. It dies away, then, after a long silence, a note emerges, and this lone note, on three different solo stops, beaten, hunted by its two neighbouring notes in increasingly animated accents, anacruses and appoggiaturas, disappears, giving way to the sombre dance which then broadens out. It is interrupted all of a sudden by the irritated, exasperated, fuming tone of that harshness that overdoes itself and vanishes. The sombre dance appears one last time, letting itself go into paroxym. The third Saga unfolds as a very ancient chant, the memory of an Ossianic chant of the earliest times. The fourth Saga develops the lyricism of a tale to be told. But in midway comes a sort of destructive outburst of which the ever tighter links give way for a moment to pure narrativity, which, after a few upsets, ends the piece with the memory of great danger overcome by candour. The fifth Saga is a kind of quiet walk, interspersed with a few controversies, interceptions and demonstrations that are rather more lively. The sixth Saga develops a kind of theme in runs, whose constantly rhythmic rebounding might bring out the idea of apologetic or exalted acclamation.

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.977033 Composed by Paul SanGregory. Contemporary. Score and parts. 48 pages. Distant Engraver Music #3534793. Published by Distant Engraver Music (A0.977033). (Score and parts are included in a single download.)As the pun used for the title for this piece suggests, it is a suite of generally light movements that still possess a certain amount of depth. Though the harmonies are generally pleasant, seeming to have popular or jazz origins, there are various musical spices adding more body to that sweetness. The first movement, Improvisation, captures the mood of a free-form prelude, as if the players were improvising on a set of chords, some of which seem to be influenced by jazz or other non-classical idioms. Dialogue, the second movement, is a conversation between the violin and guitar. There are times when one instrument accompanies the other, but generally both players add important thoughts to the rhythmically diverse conversation. The third movement begins with a guitar accompaniment supporting the violin’s Song. Later, these two roles are reversed. Dance is essentially a disagreement. The violin plays a quasi-aristocratic eighteenth-century gavotte while the guitar prefers a sombre chromatic waltz. There is emphatic disagreement over which dance the players should perform, but in the end a solution seems to be found. The last movement, Pursuit, is a playful chase that is interrupted by a dreamy pause to catch one’s breath. Complete performance duration is ca. 15 minutes.

Young French, Spanish, Italians and Poles rush to celebrate with a series of dances, including a musette. The ballet is interrupted by the noise of drums and trumpets. It is Bellona, goddess of war, who arrives on the stage accompanied by warriors bearing flags. Bellona calls on the youths to seek out military glory (Air and chorus: La Gloire vous appelle). Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1253097 Composed by Moshe S. Knoll. 21st Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. Score. 51 pages. ArtsAhimsa #846842. Published by ArtsAhimsa (A0.1253097). This is a large scale Tryptich, inspired by Debussy's Suite pour le Piano. It was begun in 2021 and it kept being re-written till 2023.I dedicate this Tryptich to the loving memory of the great American Pianistand pedagoge Mr. Beveridge Webster, who was my last teacher at Juilliard. The first piece is a Prelude, playful but not too carefree, the dance-like atmosphere gets interrupted several times by a serious, contemplativeChorale-like passage. The second piece, Nocturno-Fantasia is a desolated landscape of pain and despair,a reflection of the harsh times the human family has had to endure these last three years. The last movement, is a large-Scale Toccata in the Phrygian Mode, usingirregular time signatures. This Toccata must be played in strict tempo, to highlight those irregular rhythms.Dies Irae is referenced in both the second and third movements, discreetly, just beneath the surface. This Cycle of three can be performed as a unit, or as three separate pieces. It is designed to give virtuosi a new warhorse for competitions, certainlythe Toccata.I do believe this Toccata has great technical value for pianists as an Etude in articulationand rhythm.Beyond this, I hope that this music will express a wide range of human sufferings and aspirations, and that it will deliver an emotional catharsis for all potential listeners. With this composition I am joining the large group of composers who have created New Music these last few years, music testifying to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

The titles refer to actual events of that time; number 1, a sunset on the North Downs in Kent, number 2 a rain-interrupted firework display on the South Bank, where the Thames theme, similar to Smetana’s Vltava theme, is transformed into a half-stated opening of Brahms’s 4th symphony in the quiet G major coda. Number 3 was written after a matinee performance of Richard Rodney Bennett’s Isadora. The kaleidoscope is a satirical treatment of Bennett’s dance pastiches, especially the tango. The sound sample is Sketch No 3 performed by David Martin The complete CD of Impressionist Sketches, Bagatelles and Tentative Tango, performed by David Martin, can be obtained from iTunes at: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/bagatelles-expressionist-sketches/id619860635.

Clarinet Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,Contra Alto Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.764956 Composed by Lori Archer Sutherland. Contemporary,Folk,Standards. 50 pages. Lori Archer Sutherland #4597193. Published by Lori Archer Sutherland (A0.764956). For clarinet choir (Eb, 4 Bb, Alto, Bass, Eb Contra, Bb Contra. Alternate Bb parts included for Eb and Alto. Basset horn part included (doubles Alto)).You may print multiple parts as needed for your ensemble. The Monk’s Turned Topsy-Turvy is an original fantasy for clarinet choir, based on the old French-Canadian children’s song, Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser! (Danse, mon moine, danse). The title is a play on words: moine means both monk and spinning top in French. The lyrics speak of persuading mon moine to dance by offering various articles of clothing, such as a hood or cap. After a brief, yet bold, introduction, the piece jumps into a straightforward rendition of the tune. From there, the melody is repeated, bringing in other voices and added flourishes. While the tune starts to repeat a third time, it doesn’t get to finish its full statement. It’s interrupted by a run up through the ensemble into a rollicking 7/8 section. With a rhythmic accompaniment underneath, the jaunty melody begins in the third clarinets. The upper instruments take over briefly in 6/8, then the tune returns to 7/8. After a quick breather, the accompaniment introduces an upward sweep motif. This alternates with the accompaniment pattern heard at the beginning of the 7/8 section. The lower voices then take control, driving downward into a different tonality and mood. An undulating accompaniment sets a dreamlike feel, with different voices quoting fragments of the theme. The accompaniment transfers between voices throughout the section, eventually changing back into a 3/4, then a 2/4 feel, resulting in a transition back to the original feel of the piece. The low voices get the melody, with rhythmic accompaniment and racing runs throughout the other sections. The melody goes a bit topsy-turvy before the group comes together in the descending quarter note motif from the beginning of the piece, bringing us to the coda. There’s one final quote of the opening of the main theme from the low voices, leading to a whirlwind in the first and Eb with accented notes and suspensions underneath. The Eb pipes up with one last comment and the group closes out the piece. Also available for concert band (S0.708971)

Percussion Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.1099614 Composed by Andrew Ardizzoia. Contemporary. Score and parts. 57 pages. Heartland Marimba #703447. Published by Heartland Marimba (A0.1099614). New Resources is an exploration of the compositional techniques commonly found in African drumming. A simple four-bar pattern is subjected to a number of processes and permutations, creating increasingly complex polyrhythms and a sense of large-scale acceleration. These passages, which are played on wood instruments, are interrupted by shorter sections that involve skin and metal timbres. Composed in 1999, New Resources is one of the few pieces from my undergraduate that still sees the light of day. In 2004, my collaborative partner Lisa Rie used the music to accompany a dance piece entitled Delta Eco, which celebrates the rich flora and fauna of California’s San Joaquin River Delta. New Resources has had performances throughout California and Arizona, and in 2005 it was played by William Moersch and the University of Illinois Percussion Ensemble. ~A.A.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1073229 Composed by An-lun Huang. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 33 pages. DoReMi Edition #677492. Published by DoReMi Edition (A0.1073229). Chinese Rhapsody No.3 was composed e in Toronto, Canada , 1988. Huang dedicated the piece to the Canadian Saxophonist Paul Brodie who premiered it in Parry sound of Ontario in the same year. Written in Saibei Folk Style, the music is divided into 5 movements without stop. As usual, Huang didn‘t use any folk song . But the typical taste of Huang’s “Zhang Jia Kou[張家口] accent” is pretty easy to be identified. With the concert virtuosity, the 1st movement is composed as an emotional Cadenza which expresses the profound affections to the land of Saibei. Using the same Alto Sax., the lyric 2nd movement is followed by a folk dance, the 3rd movement. Chang to a Soprano Saxophone, the 4th movement is sound like a dreamy nocturne which is interrupted by the percussions of the fiery 5th movement. The whole Rhapsody ends on a climax of the Chinese Northern west “wind and percussion “style”. Brodie found more than 300 trills in this piece. Perhaps this is the key to perform the music in real Chinese style. Huang has composed 5 versions of these pieces for different ensembles: saxophone solo with piano, or strings, or winds/brasses, or Chinese traditional orchestra, or symphony orchestra. The attached mp3 was performed by the German saxophonist Jurgen Demmler with pianist Peter Grabinger in 1996. Duration: 20’.
